Hello Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
Last Wednesday, April 24, we had our monthly fellowship at the Escape Hotel in Hollywood. It's a fun and unique venue where many of our fellow members got together to hang out and take in the scene. Elsa went to stand next to a statue to take a picture and suddenly he moved and said, "Boo!" Never a dull moment at these socials. Thank you to Amy, our amazing fellowship chair, for all the great ideas!
Saturday, April 27 started with our District 5280 Beach Clean-Up at Sunset Beach. Our Rotary district partnered with Surfrider Foundation for a morning of cleaning Sunset beach (the northern most beach of Will Roger State Beach to Pacific Palisades).
Following the beach clean-up, Wilshire Rotary and Larchmont Charter Interact ran a booth of carnival games at the Larchmont Block Party on the 500 block of North Bronson. It was a nice way for our club to get some visibility in the community. Several people did ask me what we do and where we meet. Hope to see some of them at upcoming meetings.
We have an action-packed Rotary week this week. Starting this Wednesday at the Ebell, we have our member, Zabrina Schultz, speaking to us about the financial literacy non-profit she started called "Money and Milkshakes." She started this non-profit last year for high school students and just finished the website www.moneyandmilkshakes.com. Come join us for lunch at the Ebell this Wednesday at 12N. Our District Conference is this coming weekend! We are heading to the fabulous Biltmore Hotel for a conference filled with engaging speakers, the chance to see what the various clubs across our district do, the ability to meet and network with other Rotarians in our district and enjoy a weekend full of fun events.
It starts Friday night with our inaugural District 5280 Dodger Night. There's still time to get your ticket and all are welcome, so bring your friends and family to cheer on the Dodgers against the Atlanta Braves this Friday at 7pm. You can purchase a shirt for $15 as we are looking to get lots of screen time on the Jumbotron and TV.
