Hello Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
Another active week with our Club Assembly at the Anderson Munger YMCA, Back-to-school backpacking event at Big Sunday, and helping at the Red Shield Youth Awards Ceremony.
We had a great time setting up, cooking and serving lunch at the Red Shield event and then attended the awards ceremony immediately following. Not only was Wilshire Rotary recognized as a long time supporter of the Red Shield event they also added a new "Rotarian Award." Selected by many coaches, the award is presented to an athlete who is well-rounded, attends different activities, has great sportsmanship, is a good teammate, has a positive impact on the team, and does well in school. A total of 4 "Rotarian Awards" presented to one male and one female in both age 7-10 and 11-13 levels.
This week at our Ebell lunch on Wed, 8/16 Elizabeth Watts-Russell has paid to advertise her business and give us an overview of how she can help find and negotiate a perfect venue/ meeting space for you. Please be sure to register. There is also the Summer Soiree at the Anderson Munger YMCA on Fri, 8/18 at 6pm where fellow Rotarians will be honored. You can register for that event via QR code on the invite or reach out to Rae Jin or me to help. And, last but not least, register for the District Breakfast on Sat, 8/19 at DaVinci School from 830am-10am.
Mark your calendars for 2 additional August events:
District Picnic on Sun, 8/27 from 4pm-8pm at the Seaside Lagoon. Wilshire Rotary has entered both the cardboard boat race and the chili cook-off. Captain (and Past-President) Christopher Cox has been working out lifting mangoes and will paddle our boat to victory. Past-President Ron Reyes is entering the chili contest so let's all be there to vote and cheer for our club. Go Wilshire!
Scot & Wendy Clifford are also hosting "Hot August Nights" fellowship at their home on Thursday, Aug 31 at 6pm. You will not want to miss this as Wendy has been planning several pretty fun activities for us that night. RSVP to Wendy.
Do Good. Have Fun!
