I'm a day late with my bulletin, as this weekend I succumbed to one of those nasty viruses circulating this season and I tell you it was NOT fun! So make sure you stay healthy folks, there's too much going on you won't want to miss! It's THAT time of year!  Be sure to volunteer at our Tree Lot. It's a very rewarding experience and a great opportunity to promote Rotary and our Club so wear your Rotary gear! And we look forward to everyone joining us on Tuesday, Dec. 13th for our annual Give-a-Gift to Santa holiday party. Details follow below.

COMING UP THIS WEEK
Wednesday, December 7th
 Lunch Meeting 12:00 pm
Marmalade Cafe
(located between The Grove and Farmer's Market)

GUEST SPEAKER
Capri Maddox
Executive Director of the Los Angeles
Department of Civil and Human Rights

Capri Maddox is the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department (LA Civil Rights)

Mayor Garcetti appointed Ms. Maddox to be the Department's first Executive Director in February 2020 to address systemic racism and bias in the areas of commerce, education, employment, and housing. Learn about what she's been doing to address these important issues.

Don't forget, we'll be meeting at Marmalade Cafe, at Farmer's Market this week instead of the Ebell!

Wilshire Rotary Xmas Tree Lot Still Going Strong After 16 years
There are those who just give their all to Rotary and Elsa Gillham is certainly one of them! You can see her regularly at the cash register and helping tree lot customers!

The Tree Lot not only provides a fabulous source of funding for our service projects - it IS a service project - providing employment for the formerly incarcerated, internships for youth, fundraising opportunities for Boy Scouts and Red Shield and much more. It is also an event that brings friends and family joyfully together - including our favorite furry friends!

Billie and Jo seem to approve of this tree!
Boy Scouts bringing holiday cheer and raising money for their troop!
VOLUNTEER AT THE CHRISTMAS TREE LOT
THE WILSHIRE ROTARY CHRISTMAS TREE LOT ONLY THRIVES IF WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS. IF YOU CAN'T VOLUNTEER TIME, PLEASE OFFER TO SPONSOR MEALS FOR THE WORKERS!

Volunteers can show up at the lot any time between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm seven days a week.  To sponsor meals you should call Diane at the tree lot (323-464-1935). The lot generally employs 10 workers each day during the week and 20 each day on the weekends.
