Hello Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
The last week of each month is club fellowship. Since Wilshire Rotary is such a fun and close-knit group, we had two club fellowships this week: Bingo at El Coyote and a wine and cocktails weekend trip to Pismo Beach.
Bingo Night at El Coyote was a blast with Amy calling the numbers and squeezing in an extra game for everyone. Winners won El Coyote swag, cocktails at Amy's, and cash prizes for 2 winners of the final game. A delicious taco bar, margaritas, martinis, and beer were enjoyed to boot. Congrats to the winners: Rob Barnes (2x), Georgia Brunetti, Alex Elliott, Bruce Striegel, and Heidi Striegel.
Our weekend fellowship kicked off with 16 Wilshire Rotarians loading into a party bus that drove us up the coast to Pismo Beach. Incredible views of the CA coast along with visits to Wolff Winery, Ancient Peaks Winery, Madonna Inn, Cliff House at Shell Beach and a tiki boat cruise in Morro Bay filled our itinerary. Conga lines, pole dancing, antiquing and camaraderie ensued. If you can list these 4 activities at the check-in table at the Ebell this week, you will earn a free raffle ticket.
October has arrived and this means PUMPKINS! Our Pumpkin Patch opens this Friday, October 6 and I need each of you to buy your pumpkins and volunteer to work at least 1 two hour shift this month. Wendy has sent a sign-up genius for you to volunteer some time. Reminder, each hour you volunteer converts to a cash donation to The Rotary Foundation in your name.
This Wednesday we will have Andrea Hutchman come speak to us about how to create an outdoor (or indoor) oasis. We are triple confirmed she is coming and will give us great tips and tricks you can use right away. You don't want to miss it.
Rob Barnes has also sent out our next community service project with "Food on Foot." It's a grass-roots organization addressing the needs of the unhoused in Hollywood. There is a Sunday Serving this Sunday where we feed 250-300 of our unhoused and hungry neighbors with food donated by local groups. Please come serve on Sunday, October 8 from 1230pm-2pm at 1625 North Schrader Blvd. Free parking is provided. Let Rob, Angel, or me know if you will help serve.
Another reminder to please vote AYE or NAY on the updated Club Bylaws and Constitution sent to all members via email. I have less than half the club that has voted and need at least 2/3 to pass these changes.
See you all our Wednesday Ebell meeting and at our Pumpkin Patch opening this Friday through October. For more upcoming events and to check out our pictures go to www.wilshirerotary.org
