Hello Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
 
Wilshire Rotary kicked off the holiday season with a fabulous party this past Saturday complete with festive holiday sweaters and a white elephant gift exchange. A big thank you to the Gillhams for hosting the wonderful affair. Governor Makiko also stopped by to partake in the merriment. It warms my heart to see so many of our members come together to ring in the season and reminds me how friendly and vibrant our club really is. 
 
This week our Wed lunch meeting will be held at the Anderson Munger YMCA. Lunch is $20 and Ronald McDonald House will speak to us. Please register online. 
 
Tis the season of giving and this year our Give-A-Gift to Santa event has SNOWBALLED into a snow day on Larchmont. We are going big this year and bringing in snow at the Page School parking lot across the street from our tree lot. Kids can play for free when they bring a gift to Santa. Salvation Army will have the annual bell-ringing competition of Rotary against the Lyons Club and will also be bringing in a brass band for all to enjoy. Boy Scouts Troop 10 and Larchmont Charter Interact Organization will be helping as well as Hollywood Rotary club. Please spread the word and let's get a mound of gifts for the Boys & Girls Club and the Salvation Army to help distribute. 
 
In case you need a last-minute gift, a party gift, or a yummy treat for yourself, Larry will have See's Candy available for sale at our next club meeting and at snow day. A portion of the proceeds goes to our club fundraising efforts, so don't be shy about buying a box or more of See's. 
 
Our tree lot is open at 568 N. Larchmont so please sign up to help at the lot or to bring lunches/ dinners for our workers. Inventory is flying and help selling, tagging trees, watering, and talking about Rotary is needed. A big thank you to Dan & Allison Hodgkiss for bringing a big pot of chili with all the fixings for the workers tonight. It was a welcome meal after the frenetic pace at the lot this weekend. Next shipment is this Thursday so please help in any way you can.
