Presidents Message

Wow! 2023. I hope you have all been enjoying the holidays and are ready to embrace this new year with excitement and a renewed sense of purpose. Let's all resolve to remind ourselves why we are Rotarians and strive to fulfill the obligations that come with that designation - in service, truth, fairness, fellowship and fun. As I enter the second half of my final year as your President, my commitment to you is to do my absolute best to bring you speakers and programs that are interesting and important, to help provide service opportunities that are meaningful and impactful and to promote social activities that are fun and fulfilling!

An important change taking place this year is that our EBELL LUNCH MEETINGS WILL BE MOVED TO THE SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH. The first Wednesday of the month will be a Zoom meeting with engaging speakers who are unable to attend in-person meetings.

Can you believe that Wilshire Rotary Club has been in existence since July 15, 1932!?  On the 28th of this month we will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of our historic club at the elegant Jonathan Club downtown. What I ask of you this new year is to make a commitment to do your best to attend on the 28th and to increase your participation in as many Rotary activities as you can in the coming year to honor the continued legacy of our beloved club.

Join us on zoom this Wednesday to hear from Kathryn Goetzke, founder of a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to shining a positive light on mental health and eliminating stigma through prevention, research and education. Learn how she is spreading HOPE as the creator of her "Hopeful Minds" educational program and her efforts to build "Hopeful Cities".
