LARCHMONT CHARTER SCHOOL INTERACT CLUB STUDENTS AT ALEXANDRIA HOUSE
This Week At Wilshire Rotary
June 14, 2023
Presidents Message
This week's Ebell lunch meeting is probably one of my favorite meetings of the year. This is when we highlight and acknowledge all that our sponsored Interact Club at Larchmont Charter High School has done over the past year. Since this is my last Ebell meeting as Wilshire Rotary Club president, it is only fitting for me that it is one that focuses on my particular passion - our youth. Of the many things we have done over the past two years while I've been president, the one thing I am the most proud of is the growth and development of our Interact Club. I am so pleased to share all the things these future leaders have done and to be able to celebrate their accomplishments this year.

Join us on Wednesday to see how active our Interact Club at Larchmont Charter has been this year! Students who participated in Pageant of the Arts will perform for us, we'll hear about the many service projects they participated in, and programs they started. Be there to help us announce some very worthy scholarship recipients as well as the winners of the "Shark Tank" presentations and much more!
JUNE SERVICE PROJECT
for
UNITED FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN
BRING GIFT CARDS TO THE EBELL LUNCHEON ON WEDNESDAY JUNE 14
We have agreed to donate Target gift cards to the young and needful UFC clientele, allowing them to buy food, household goods, clothing and school supplies. There are two ways to contribute:
you can buy Target gift cards (I suggest one or more $25 gift cards rather than larger denominations that might be hard for UFC to handle fairly) and bring them to our meeting Wednesday, June 14at the Ebell Amy Cuomo will gather them on behalf of UFC
Alternatively, you can contribute directly to UFC in any amount that you would like via this link: https://www.unitedfriends.org.
(See June 7th email from Rob Barnes for further info)
LAST WEEK'S ZOOM MEETING "ROTARY FRIENDSHIPS TRIUMPH OVER OTHER IDEAOLOGIES"
Past District Governor and Peace Ambassador, Dr. Vicki Radel provided an excellent presentation on how to achieve a more peaceful society using the best methods of communication.
We especially learned the importance of empathy and compassion. Both are needed to spur action.
An impressive group of facilitators from around the world led us in breakout rooms to discuss and personalize the information that was presented.
