Hello Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
What a fun time taking our club picture in front of the rotary district billboard! Greg Gill donned his Santa hat and coat and climbed the platform (literally) to raise a pumpkin with all of us cheering below. I sat on the ladder we borrowed from a neighbor and even had the friendly neighbor take our picture for us. These pictures are now posted to our district site, our site, and our social media accounts. Winner of the billboard photo contest will be announced at the upcoming district breakfast on Nov 4 at Da Vinci School in El Segundo. Go Wilshire!
Our pumpkin patch is in full swing, and we need help selling. We are open M-F 2-6pm and Sat-Sun 10am-6pm. Please sign up as it's really a fun time with beautiful pumpkins and a great way to take in the start of the holiday season. Latinos Unidos Rotary will have a Taco cart there this coming weekend, on Sat and Sun, Oct 21-22 from 12N-3PM with Troop 10 Boy Scouts selling drinks both days. The Red Shield youth mariachi band will perform from 12N-130PM on Saturday so come by and buy. 568 N, Larchmont Blvd.
The next club meeting is this Wednesday, October 18 at 12N at the Ebell and will feature our Club Pageant of the Arts Speech Candidates. We have a couple schools presenting so please come to hear these articulate students.
We will also have our club OKTOBERFEST fundraiser at Bruce & Heidi Striegel's Haus this coming Saturday, Oct 21 at 7pm. Please let Amy know ASAP today of you would like to attend. There will be a full spread of authentic German fare and lots to drink. Donations of $50 per person suggested as we are raising money for our club projects and activities, and this is a fun way to do so. You can't go out to dinner and drinks and Oktoberfest to boot for less. Prost!
Join your fellow Rotarians to promote peace. The walk will take place in Historic West Adams and should be about an hour or so. Registration is $15 per person and includes a t-shirt and refreshments. Click here to register: Peace Walk | Rotary District 5280 (rotary5280.org)
Get ready for some hauntingly great fun at Cuomo Castle on Saturday, October 28th at 6PM. This is a great event to invite non-Rotarians to showcase how we excel at Having Fun! All ages welcome, costumes encouraged. Register to let Amy know how many will be in attendance.
