Happy New Year Wilshire Rotary and Friends -
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to kickoff 2024.
Thank you for all the generous donations in the annual Salvation Army bell-ringing competition of Wilshire Rotary against the Lions Club. Wilshire Rotary reigns supreme yet again and another year of bragging rights continues. It was a tight race with each donation counting big in numerous ways.
Our first lunch meeting of 2024 will be at the Ebell this Wednesday at 12N. We will hold our annual vocational awards for our local police and fire departments. The Greater Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce will also join our meeting to present a Trailblazer Award to Sgt. Kirby for his service to the community. Please join us for this wonderful annual meeting.
Our service project this month will be collecting business attire for the Anderson Munger YMCA teens heading to Sacramento next month. Please bring gently used suits, ties, dresses, blazers, pants, skirts, and button-down shirts or blouses to our Ebell meetings this Wednesday and on January 24. You can also drop off directly to the Anderson Munger YMCA until the end of the month.
In addition, there is a collection drive for Camp Pendleton and Fort MacArthur. Items needed are diapers, baby/ children's clothes, toys, bathtubs, strollers, cribs, dishes, cookware, and meal prep tools. Bedding and gift cards ($25) to Target/ Walmart are welcome. Drop off on Jan 20 from 9AM - 1PM at Hawthorne High School at 4859 El Segundo Blvd in Hawthorne and at the VFW in Gardena 1822 W 162nd St.
See you at the Ebell on Wednesday.
