Although not a Rotary event, last week it was my pleasure to attend and represent Wilshire Rotary at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new toddler playground at Pan Pacific Park. The playground was rededicated Thursday by Mayor Karen Bass, City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky and other city leaders after a yearlong closure due to vandalism. For those of you who attended our breakfast meeting and tour of Televison City, you won't be surprised to learn that it was due to the generosity of Hackman Capital Partners (the owners of Television City) that the playground was able to be rebuilt. They donated over $230,000 to the city for that purpose. It was immensely gratifying to see the end product of a public and private collaboration achieving something great in our community. It reminded me that as Rotarians, there are so many opportunities for us to work with any number of community partners to achieve an even broader and greater impact in the work we are committed to doing.
