Hi Wilshire Rotary Club,

    •  Team Join Code: wrc

  • Please review our boundaries and kitchen safety documents to ensure you are able to provide a safe and comfortable experience for both volunteers and guest families.

  • Because of the vulnerable population we serve, we require everyone to do the following when checking in:

    • Screening for contagious illness – Temperature and COVID exposure check; please do not attend the activity if you or anyone in your group are feeling ill.

    • Screening for child abuse – Bring a current ID to run our rapid screening of registered sex offenders; minors are exempt.

    • Our team will generate a name badge for you to wear while on campus; please wear this at all times.

  • All food must be prepared onsite or come pre-prepared from a commercial kitchen or store; we are unable to accept any food that has been prepared in your home or is already opened, per food safety guidelines.

  • We ask that you prepare enough food for 150 people; we can never determine how many families will show up due to their schedules, however, we always package up leftovers for families unable to attend the meal.

  • Remember to bring all necessary serveware and to-go containers. Recommendations can be found here.

  • Please help our families feel taken care of by bussing their tables, checking in on them, and helping to clean up the kitchen after your meal service.

Your meal:

  • Your group is welcome to park in either of our visitor lots at 1250 Lyman Place or 4560 Fountain Ave.

  • You will be cooking in the Fountain Building kitchen at 4560 Fountain Ave and should plan to arrive at 9AM.

  • Upon arrival, please proceed to the Fountain Building and ring the buzzer and let the front desk know you are there for a Meal of Love. You will be greeted and asked to go through our check-in procedures listed above.

  • Please let us know ahead of time if you will be using any special equipment like our grills.

  • Please also let us know if you plan to have any special activities or entertainment, as this needs to be approved by our staff team.

Wilshire Rotary Lunch Meeting @ The Ebell
Dec. 03, 2025 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

This week’s speaker is really interesting.

Have you ever wanted to ask a television critic a critical question, or hear their process in issuing a critique on your favorite show?  This Wednesday, you’ll have your chance.

Two things will happen at the meeting this Wednesday (12/3):

  1. We’ll accept nominations for President-Elect.

  2. We’re having a dynamic speaker.

President-Elect

At this meeting we’re accepting nominations to be current President-Elect.  This is role recently became available, and is for our Club President for the 2026-27 Rotary year.

Article III, Section 1 of our Bylaws says, “... the presiding officer shall use reasonable best efforts to ask for nominations by Members of the Club for president…”

As the presiding officer, I intend to use not only email to ask for your nominations for president of our club, but a portion of the 12/3 meeting to accept in-person nominations.  Person(s) nominated will be placed on a ballot, and members of our club will vote.

This is not only a critical vote, that will determine future leadership in our club, but the vote is time-sensitive; the next president needs time to train -- President Elect Leadership Seminar is in February, 2026.  Our next president also needs time to establish a board of directors for the 2026-27 Rotary year.  Ballots for the next board of directors should be sent, tabulated, and announced in time for the president to identify and lead our next team.

Speaker

Our speaker will be Ray Richmond.

His books include a biography of actress Betty White and the collector’s guide “The Sopranos: The Complete Visual History.”  He teaches television history at Chapman University in Orange, CA.

WRC Gives Gifts To Santa
Dec. 13, 2025 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

A long-standing Wilshire Rotary tradition, created for children of Rotarians to embrace the concept of giving gifts to Santa to distribute to others rather than solely receiving gifts, the concept resonates for all ages.  And all ages are welcome (so bring kids, grandkids, the whole family!) to celebrate the Season on Saturday, December 13th from 4PM-7PM.  We will donate as a club a check to the Red Shield division of the Salvation Army, and will also be delivering toys to be distributed to 500 kids at their annual Holiday party, . For many children, this will be their only gift.

Please bring an UNWRAPPED, UNISEX gift for teens aged 13-15ish.  Board games are an excellent option.

Appetizers and drinks will be served.

Santa is making an appearance so be ready to share your own wish list, too!

Join in the GIVING at the gorgeous home of Kyle and Delroy.

Please register so we know how many are attending.

There is no cost other than we ask that you bring the gift to give to Santa.

Yours in giving,

Amy, and Santa 13,700+ Santa Claus Delivering Gifts Stock Photos, Pictures ...

Wilshire Rotary Lunch Meeting @ The Ebell
Jan. 21, 2026 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

For years, I didn’t know what a Consul was. Yes, I would occasionally meet someone from the consulate office, or the Consul General of this country or that, but, if I’m being honest, I never actually looked up what consul meant, or what they were there for. All I knew is they were from another country, and they must be really important.

Well, today I know (because I looked it up), and I’m fascinated with their position, and purpose.

At our meeting this Wednesday, our speaker will be a representative from the Irish Consul.

Caitlin Higgins, the new Consul General for the Western United States, and Hawaii will be our speaker. Thank you Robert Barnes for introducing all of us to her.

I’m really interested in hearing about Caitlin, her duties, and learning how we can partner with her and her country.

There are 67 Rotary Clubs in Ireland. They’re in District 1160, with a total of 1,400 members in the district. As a comparison, in our District – 5280 – we have 70 clubs, and 1,871 members.

If you’re interested in doing a little quick reading about Rotary in Ireland, here’s the website:

https://rotary-ribi.org/districts/homepage.php?DistrictNo=1160

We truly are part of a global network of friends, neighbors, and problem solvers.

We’re meeting this Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 12:00 noon at:

The Ebell of Los Angeles

743 S. Lucerne Blvd.

Los Angeles, CA 90005

Bring your questions, bring your joy, bring yourself, and, hey, bring a friend – seriously, bring a friend, this is going to be really fun and interesting – and let’s greet the new Irish Consul General.

See you there!

Thank you.

WRC Supports President-Elect Rae!
Feb. 20, 2026 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

As President-Elect Rae Jin heads to our annual Southwest regional training seminar this weekend, let's meet this Friday at 5:30 at the lobby bar at the LAX Marriott and toast her as she completes her first day of sessions.  Rae embodies Service Above Self, as a mother, and as the Executive Director of the Anderson Munger Family YMCA.  Rae is always there to step up and support the philanthropic endeavors of Wilshire Rotary, including serving as President for the 2026-2027 Rotary year.

For those who have served as President, you understand what it means to feel the support of your club.  For those who are future Presidents, this will serve as an exciting glimpse into the world of district training, and the fun that is PELS (President-Elect Learning Sessions).  This weekend training includes two evenings of celebration, visiting rooms hosted by Clubs from districts in California, Arizona and Hawaii, and a chance to meet RI leadership.  It really is an awesome weekend.

Let's raise a glass and celebrate President-Elect Rae!

Yours in Rotary,
Amy
