We are having a collection event for the military men and women and their families at Camp Pendleton and Fort MacArthur. I spoke to the people running the Warrior Warehouse and Airman’s Attic and have a very specific list of what they need at the moment. Their spaces are limited and the shelves that normally contain the following items are very empty. The demand is constant because there is always new personnel arriving. We are only accepting the following items listed on the flyer. Diapers, diapers, diapers We are accepting shoes for Soles4Souls We are accepting books for the Westchester Rotary Club We are accepting men’s and women’s (no suits or fancy stuff) for the San Felipe Rotary Club.

This event takes place on Thursday, October 10th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the amazing and historic Valley Relics Museum. While you are networking with like-minded professionals enjoy the sights of nostalgic items that will bring back great memories.
This Business Networking event encourages you to bring your business cards, purchase a booth and lay out your marketing materials or company giveaways, or consider sponsoring the event and taking the microphone to share with all those in attendance the powerful work you do during your 3-minute commercial. Rotary is fostering the importance of doing business with one another and at the same time bring a non-Rotarian who will see the impact Rotary may have on their life and their business! Ways to Participate:
$10 per person before the early bird deadline of October 4
$20 per person on October 5th and later
$100 for one business to setup a booth display
$250 to sponsor the event - this includes a 3-minute commercial on stage and booth display.
We plan on hosting three Rotary Means Business events throughout the year. One on each side of the district. Sponsor all three events for $600 and receive all the benefits listed plus your logo on a goodie bag giveaway. Must pledge by September 27, 2024.

Join the District as we coordinate a free educational workshop dedicated to "Fundraising Essentials." John Spokes, CRFE from Netzel Grigsby Associates will lead this session on share strategies on asking for donations, crafting your ask, current trends of giving, etc. Some interesting questions we will tackle:
How can a culture of giving and service help our District?
What transformation is needed by volunteer leadership?
We are offering this so you can go back to your clubs and find new ways to raise funding for your projects.
John believes that there are no shortcuts to achieving an organization’s mission and in building a sufficient donor pipeline. By developing a plan, implementing its steps and evaluating progress, organizations can achieve any objective. John guides his clients one vital step at a time toward their ultimate goal.

Do-si-do skills not required! We are reviving a Wilshire Rotary Tradition complete with live music, great food and drinks at our very own Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, October 19th. The fun begins at 2PM and is open to the public. This is a great opportunity to showcase our club and all the good we do, and the fun we have. This year we are very excited to feature the talented singer-songwriter, Rob Faucette, on stage. And, if that is not reason enough to attend, we plan to have food trucks on-site, plus adult and kid-friendly beverages available for purchase. So, dust off your cowboy boots, find a great hat and perhaps even learn a line dance or two. There is not cost to attend as food and drinks can be purchased on site, but please register to attend and brings lots of guests. |

The District 5280 Committee proudly brings to you the Rotary Bowl. The Rotary Bowl is our district wide effort in raising funds to support The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation is the mechanism that funds our district community grants, global grants, vocational scholarships and so much more.
The Rotary Bowl will take place on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at the beautiful SoFi Stadium. Rotary Clubs, Rotarians and extended family are welcome to support our fundraising efforts by purchasing a tax-deductible sponsorship package, a table of ten, general admission tickets, program advertisements, donate a live auction item or purchase opportunity drawing tickets for your chance to win up to $2,500.

Please volunteer to help keep them warm during treatment.

Wilshire Rotary has secured discounted tickets for the incredible Cirque du Soleil show, Kooza, being held Under The Big Top in Santa Monica. We have group seating for the 5:30 show on Sunday, November 10th. We have great seats in Section 103. Standard ticket pricing in this section ranges from $141 to $210 per ticket! We are offering them to Wilshire Rotary members and guests at the great price of $109.00 which also allows for our Club to receive $15.00 per ticket. This is a great way to continue our tradition of Doing Good and Having Fun.

Big Sunday's 13th Annual Thanksgiving Stuffing Event will be on Wednesday, November 27 at Radford Studio Center in Studio City. This year we’re filling 4000 bags full of food – which will feed 16,000 grateful and hungry people – at more than 100 nonprofits and schools all over the greater LA area. This family friendly event is a wreath and tabletop tree decorating contest, and includes a bounce house, games and cookie decorating for kids, nibbles and adult beverages, and lots of holiday cheer! Our speaker will be Lisa Derderian, Public Information Officer (PIO) for the City of Pasadena. Lisa is responsible for both police and fire departments. We will also learn about Rotary's role in the annual Rose Parade. Wilshire Rotary will also be presenting a donation to the LAPD Reserve Foundation and will be accepted by Karla Ahmanson and various LAPD officers.

Our incredible Rotary club always has much to celebrate, and what better time to celebrate than the holiday season? Join in the merriment on Friday, December 20th at the home of Elsa and Larry Gillham. Don your favorite FESTIVE holiday sweater, and, if so inclined, bring a white elephant gift valued at $15.00. We will also be decorating table top trees that we will be giving away to local familes, so please bring an ornament to hang on a tree as well. We will have a variety of chili for all diets, plus fun sides, for $20.00. You can BYOB or bring $10.00 for a bottomless specialty cocktail. Register today for our 2nd District Breakfast this Rotary year. On Saturday, January 25th at 9:30am we will be hosting our next District Breakfast. We will be heading to the beautiful and historic Garland Hotel, owned by the Beverly Garland family. We will be treated to some special surprises this morning.
This event is a great way to come together as a District, listen and learn from our guest speaker (TBA), enjoy a hot and delicious breakfast with one another.
We will have more details about our presenter in the coming weeks. However, please consider registering as we have space for 250 Rotarians.
